Who we are

National Reformer operates the website at nationalreformer.com. In these terms, “we,” “us,” and “the National Reformer” mean the publication and the entity that runs it. “You” means the person using the site.

Using the site

You may read our journalism, share it with attribution, link to it, and quote reasonable portions of it for commentary, criticism, or news reporting. You may not:

  • Republish our articles in full without written permission.
  • Use our content to train machine-learning models without written permission.
  • Scrape the site at a scale that degrades performance for other readers.
  • Impersonate the National Reformer, our staff, or our writers.
  • Use the site to break the law or harm other people.

Ownership

The articles, photographs, illustrations, code, and design on this site are ours or are licensed to us. The wordmark and logo are trademarks of the National Reformer.

When we publish work by a freelance contributor, our agreement with the contributor governs who owns what. Republication requests still come to us.

What you send us

If you send us a story tip, a letter, feedback, a correction request, or any other communication, you grant us the right to publish and quote from your message in our journalism unless you tell us it is off the record or on background at the time you send it. We handle confidential sources under our Ethics policy.

Please don’t send us anything you consider confidential unless you’ve told us so. Don’t send us other people’s copyrighted material without permission.

Comments and community features

If we add comments, forums, or other community features to the site, we’ll publish specific rules for those features. Until then, this section is reserved.

Third-party links

Our articles link to other websites so you can read primary sources and verify what we’ve reported. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content or their handling of your information.

No warranties

We work hard to be accurate and to keep the site up. But the site is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the National Reformer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, arising out of your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for anything that cannot be limited by law.

Termination

We can suspend or restrict access to the site — for a specific person, or generally — if we reasonably believe use of the site violates these terms or harms other readers.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top of the page. Substantial changes will be noted on the site.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the state where the National Reformer is registered. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state, except where a consumer-protection law of your state of residence provides otherwise.
